    Excellent product, I was playing with the phone sketch and the touchscreen didn’t seem to work, having a look through the code there is no reference to loading the Touchscreen settings.

    If you add the following to the void setup() {} function, the touchscreen then works.

    PHN_Settings settings;

    The only other issue I’m having with the phone sketch is it regularly comes up with “No Sim Card” even though it is registered on the network.

    When will the accessories be available to retail customers?

    Hello Ian,

    The touchscreen settings are loaded on demand inside the Phoenard library when the touchscreen is updated. It should not be needed to load them anywhere else. This, combined with the random behavior with the SIM, does remind me of a rare problem we found with the ATMEGA2560.

    On a few boards we found that the microprocessor had errors reading flash memory in certain places. It resulted in String tokens being randomly changed (for example, AT commands got ‘corrupted’). Recently I added a test for this flash bug in the test routine. I advice downloading the latest Phoenard library source and uploading/running the Test Routine sketch to see if this is the case for you.

    If this test indeed flags your device, you can send it to us for repairs (microprocessor replacement) which we will gladly do for you. If it doesn’t, then it might be a different kind of bug we need to look into more closely…

    The accessories will be ready along with the Phoenard boards some time the end of this month. But we could perhaps put them in retail earlier, considering they don’t wait for any repairs. I will discuss with Pamungkas tomorrow.

    Hi, I have completed the test as requested, all tests passed. I have updated the phone sketch to the Phoenard and the screen is now working. Still reports no ‘No Sim Card’, I’m going to have a play.

    Thanks for the quick response.
