After several days of continuous testing, repairing individual cases, replacing screens and testing again, all the Phoenards are now ready to go into retail. The box will be sent to Seeedstudio today, and in a couple of days we can give retail a go!
We have received our Phoenards from Seeedstudio and have begun doing initial testing of the boards. The outcome is good, the only main repairs needed involve testing and soldering the 50 LCD screens. At this rate, we expect to start retail end of October latest.
After spending a few days our team managed to update the old firmware version through USB. This means you no longer require an ISP programmer to make use of the latest firmware functions and features. More info: updating firmware.
We received several requests for having a battery level indicator in the Sketch list. Now, after the sketch list is idle for 20 seconds, the screen will slide sideways and reveal a battery level graph. It also indicates when the device is charging. We noticed that programming the firmware through ISP proves troublesome to some, potentially causing the device to be bricked. We have updated the firmware to include a self-update mechanic.
